How to Clear Cache in Windows 10 and 11

Over time while using a windows pc, lots of cache and temporary junk files arg stored in the PC. This junk file may create some issues and might reduce the performance of your PC data transfer speed and even overall performance.

1. Clear cache using storage sense 

Microsoft's built-in storage sense program is designed to clear junk and unused cache files automatically. 

But it only runs if there is low space remaining in your PC storage to free up some space to make sure the PC runs at its best.

To turn on and use storage sense,

In Windows 11

1. Open settings by the Star menu

2. Click on system and select storage 

3. Click on storage sense and turn on the toggle automatically for user content cleanup 

4. Scroll down to clear manually using storage sense 

If you want to clear cache without storage sense then click on the temperature field and click on the remove button.

In Windows 10

1. Open settings 

2. Click on system 

3. Click on storage and open the link location in the top configure storage sense or run it now

4. Here you can turn on Storage Sense or run it manually by pressing clear now button located in the bottom section 

To clear the cache without storage sense click on the temporary file option located in the storage settings windows 

It includes,

• 3. Thumbnail 
• 4. Temporary Internet file
• 5. Direct x shader cache

Select the clearing option and press the remove file button.

2. Use the disc cleanup tool

Windows has built-in app for quick clear cache and temporary files of each partition drive of Windows,

To use it,

1. Search disc cleanup in the windows search bar 

2. Click on disc cleanup 

3. Select drive and press ok

4. Select the file type and press ok to start cleaning 

3. Clear DNS cache 

To clear cache related to domain name system DNS to ensure that web browser and web page work seamlessly in windows PC,

1. Open cmd by typing in the windows search bar

2. Click run as administrator 

3. Type ipconfig /flushdns and press enter 

4. The message appear successfully flushed dns cache

4. Clear Microsoft store cache

If you are facing some error or problem in the Microsoft Store app then clearing the cache might help to get rid of them,

1. Open the run app by pressing window+ R and typing wsreset.exe and pressing enter 

2. A blank window will appear to clear the Microsoft Store cache and close automatically
