1. Run the Ctfmon search 

Ctfmon is a Windows inbuilt process that takes care of text and emoji input in the Windows operating system,  if this process has an anomaly then it could be the reason why you can't able to type in the Windows search bar,

In the Windows operating system ctfmon is continuously run by default but in it is not running then try these steps to manually run it using the run application.

1. Open run by pressing window+ R

2. Type ctfmon.exe and press enter

This will start running Ctfmon in the Windows background automatically and you won't notice anything on your screen.

Try Windows search again after doing this to see if your Windows search bar is not working as normal.

2. Run sfc scan 

You can run sfc system scan to find and fix any corrupted system file or missing system file that is necessary to run Windows feature as expected,

A corrupted file or missing file can be the reason why your Windows search bar not working as expected,

To run SFC a scan,

1. Open cmd by pressing window+ R

2. Type cmd and press enter 

3. Type sfc /scannow and press enter

This will start the system scan to fix any corrupted or missing file by using the office Microsoft server to download and replace those files if needed,

Make sure you have a fast and stable internet connection during these steps to avoid any interruption or error.

3. Rebuilding indexing 

Sometimes rebuilding an indexing file can help because it rebuilds all indexing components and removes any corrupted or malfunctioning elements.

Press the Windows Key + S type in indexing and click on Indexing Options. Click on Advanced.

Under Troubleshooting, click on Rebuild.

4. Restart the Windows search service 

Sometimes restarting the Windows search service might help with search-related issues on Winda ows PC,.

To do that,

1. Open task manager by pressing Ctrl shift Esc 

2. Click on service

4. Right-click on that and click restart

After that, it is recommended to restart the Windows PC as well to run all search components freshly.

5. Restart file explorer 

Windows search service works with File Explorer in parallel to search files in Windows,

It is possible that file explorer is not working as expected or got stuck sometimes,

To restart File Explorer,

1. Open task manager by pressing Ctrl shift Esc 

2. Search File Explorer in Task Manager or scroll to find it
