How to Lock and Unlock the Function (Fn) Key in Windows

The function key of the windows keyboard is extremely useful and you can use it as an additional feature and shortcut. Depending on working habits we need to lock and unlock the function key to be more productive.

Here I will show you how to lock and unlock the function key in Windows PC,

1. Lock or unlock using Esc

You can easily lock or unlock function keys using the Esc key located on the windows keyboard's top left side.

To lock the function key press the function key and Esc key same time to successfully lock the function key.

To unlock again press the fn and Esc keys same time to unlock the function keys as normal.

2. Lock and unlock using BIOS setting 

You can also able to use the BIOS setting in the windows recovery environment to disable or enable function keys, The BIOS menu on PC helps with changing different types of system settings, hardware configuration as well and power control.

2. Here is how you can disable or enable fn keys using BIOS,

1. Boot into the windows recovery environment using various methods 

2. Click on troubleshoot then advance option 

3. Click on UEFI settings and click on the restart button.

4. In the BIOS menu select system configuration click action key mode

5. Disable action key mode
