How to Open Group Policy Editor in Windows 10

Here are some ways you can open the group policy editor on a Windows 10 PC. Group policy editor is a great Windows built-in tool for configuring many important settings on their computer or network.

1. Open group policy editor using run

Open run application using the shortcut win + R and enter gpedit and press enter. After that group policy editor will be open.

2. Open group policy editor using cmd

Open the command prompt using the Windows search bar and click on run as administrator because you need admin access to launch the group policy editor from the command prompt.

Once cmd is opened then type gpedit and press enter to launch the group policy editor in Windows.

3. Open group policy editor using PowerShell 

Same as the command prompt windows PowerShell is also able to launch a group policy editor using the same command gpedit,

Open Powershell using the start menu and click as run as administrator to open it. And paste the same gpedit command to open the group policy editor.

4. Open group policy editor control panel 

To launch the group policy editor using the control panel then first open the control panel using the Windows search bar,

In the control panel search bar type group policy and click on the group policy editor link in the control panel just below the administrative tool section.

5. Using settings ( not work in the home edition)

Simply open the Windows settings app by pressing window+ I and in the Windows settings search bar search group policy and click on the Edit Group policy option to open the group policy editor.

It will not work on Windows 10 or 11 running on the home edition of Windows.

6. Search group policy editor ( not work in home edition)

Just search group policy editor using the default Windows search bar type group policy click on edit group policy app and open it.

It also does not Work in a home edition of Windows.
