How to Start Windows 10 in Safe Mode

Windows has a safe mode that loads windows and files with minimal driver and systems software components to troubleshoot something or test any program and features in that environment.

Here are a total three ways you can boot your PC into safe mode,

1. From settings 

You can use the windows settings app to boot into safe mode easily, 

1. Open settings by pressing window+ I or by starting menu

2. Search for recovery in the windows settings search bar and click on recovery 

3. Click on the restart now button located in the advanced startup option at the bottom side.

After that, your Windows device will restart and booted into recovery mode for further action,

4. In recovery mode click on troubleshoot 

5. Click the advanced option 

6. Open startup settings 

7. Click restart 

After that, your PC will immediately restart into safe mode with basic and necessary drivers only.

If your device is encrypted then your PC may ask for a recovery key to proceed further.

2. From the lock screen 

If you need to boot into the safe from from sign screen for any reason then try these steps,

1. In the windows sign in screen press shift hold shift key press the power button and click restart 

Hold the shift key until the recovery menu gets opened 

In the recovery menu click on troubleshoot> advanced option> startup settings> restart 

Once you are in the recovery screen the steps remain the same as method one shown above to boot into safe mode.

3. From stuck or blank screen 

If your pc can't turn on because of conflicts with a third party program or driver then try to boot using this method to start your windows PC in safe mode,

1. Start Windows PC and wait until the manufacturers logo appear 

2. As soon as the manufacturer's logo appears press and hold the Power button for up to 10 seconds to force the shutdown PC.

3. Repeat these steps 2-3 times to enter recovery mode.

4. Once in recovery mode follow troubleshoot> advanced option> startup settings> restart 

A bitlocker encryption key may be required if your PC is encrypted

Here are ways you can safely turn off and roll back to normal mode from safe mode.

1. Search system configuration in the windows search bar 

2. Click on the system configuration app 

3. Select the boot menu 

4. Clear the safe boot checkbox and restart the device normally to boot Windows in normal mode.
